Pizza Village and Naples make history.
Lungomare Caracciolo, 18 May 2016. At 1853.88 metres long and 50 cm wide, the Margherita pizza made by over 500 master pizza chefs at Pizza Village has led the city to win the Guinness World Record for the longest pizza in the world.
Hundreds of pizza chefs from all over the world participated in the initiative by kneading approximately 2000 kg of Mulino Caputo flour and topping the gigantic pizza with 1600 kg of CIAO tomatoes, 2000 kg of Orchidea fior di latte, 200 litres of Sapio oil and 30 kg of basil from the Basilico Napoletano company.
The pizza making process – which took, to be precise, 6 hours and 11 minutes – ended with cooking in 5 special mobile wood-fired ovens , created in collaboration with the leading company in the sector, Forni Magliano . Equipped with an electric motor and marked with the colours of the different continents, the five ovens worked simultaneously, moving along the pizza and cooking up to fifty metres of it in the space of 30 minutes.

A date to remember for the Pizza Village and for the master pizza chefs who came from each of the 5 continents . An enormous steel pan, 5 special ovens made specifically for the occasion and 1,876 m of pizza, in fact, were the contents through which another page of history was written for the city of Naples, for its ambassadors and for the largest and most significant event that represents Neapolitan pizza in the world. A show within a show , this is how the Caracciolo seafront presented itself to the cameras of broadcasters around the world and to the eyes of millions of viewers on the day in which the Guinness World Record decreed the overcoming of the previous record for the creation of the longest pizza in the world.
